SENSE Center for Transitional Justice is launching a seven-day internet campaign in cooperation with twenty civil society organizations from Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the crimes committed in Ahmići
The SENSE Center for Transitional Justice marks the 30th anniversary of the crimes committed in Ahmići and Central Bosnia, thus continuing its program of commemorating the crimes and the victims of the wars fought in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. About twenty civil society organizations from Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will participate in the Ahmići 1993-2023 campaign, transmitting the content prepared by the SENSE Center on their websites and social networks.
The online campaign begins on Monday, April 10, 2023, with the broadcast of the video "Persecution of Humanity", showing how the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) reconstructed the "tragedy in the small village of Ahmići" in its first verdict for crimes in Central Bosnia. During the attack of the Croatian Defense Council (HVO) on April 16, 1993 116 inhabitants of this village, Bosniaks, were brutally murdered and their houses burned.
Until the end of the campaign on April 16, SENSE will broadcast six more videos on its YouTube channel showing in more detail how the ICTY investigated, reconstructed and prosecuted the crimes committed in 1993 in Ahmići and Central Bosnia.
